EXPERIENCE
EMIRATES ENGINEERING (Mauritius)
Line Maintenance Apprentice, July 2012 to August 2012
Assigned to an aircraft engineer in the line maintenance department. I assisted the engineer
in checks, repairs and servicing on aircraft arrival, transit and before departure. The tasks I
performed was on Boeing 777-300 ,777-300ER and 777-200 aircrafts and included the
following:












Detailed/general visual and walk around inspection (impact damage, FOD, fluid
leakage, missing parts and tail strike assembly damage).
Installation and removal of landing gear pins.
Installation of nose landing gear bypass pin on aircraft arrival.
Headset communication with ground crew/cockpit.
Assisted in aircraft towing and push back.
Aircraft refuelling using Jet A1 aviation turbine fuel.
Forward and AFT cargo doors surround inspection.
BUG and IDG servicing.
Checking engine oil levels. Servicing as required to full level using MOBIL JET II oil.
TPIS wire locking.
Landing gear tyre inflation/pressurisation using Nitrogen.
Equipment/furnishings repairs.
During the apprenticeship I also learnt and widen my knowledge in the following areas:





Increased knowledge of aircraft systems, documentation and regulatory
requirements.
Performed detailed checklists such as Boeing 777 (passenger) transit checklist which
included aircraft arrival checks, aircraft transit items, refuelling, water/waste servicing,
potable water uplift, final checks before departure of aircraft.
Boeing 777 ETOPS supplemental checklist.
Assisted in preparing reports and documentation in compliance with EASA
regulations.
Gained competencies in a range of engineering disciplines and systems including
aerodynamics, fluid power systems, fuel systems and powerplant.
All the tasks performed were registered in a logbook and have been checked and signed by
a licensed aircraft engineer(LAE).
