Stacey Feenan SLE designated specialism: ICT / Computing and Assessment
Stacey is the Deputy Headteacher at Barlows Primary School which is a two form entry school from Nursery to
Year 6. Stacey is an outstanding teacher (Ofsted 2010) who has taught at the school for 10 years in Year 3, 4,
5 and 6.
During her time at Barlows Stacey has had a variety of roles which include Phase Management, Geography
Coordinator, Eco Schools Coordinator and School Grounds Development.
Her current responsibilities at Barlows include Assessment, Pupil Tracking and Computing.
Assessment and Pupil Tracking Systems
Stacey leads Assessment and Pupil Tracking and has been instrumental in setting up pupil tracking systems and
processes which use assessment and tracking to inform intervention, support and challenge. Furthermore, she
has provided support to other colleagues within Merseyside and Cheshire, through sharing practices and
approaches.
Stacey is the school’s lead teacher on the Liverpool LA Assessment Pilot Project and is currently working with
staff at Barlows to develop internal assessment and tracking systems following the removal of levels.
Computing
Stacey leads Computing across the school and has worked with a range of external professionals. She has had a
significant impact on Computing at Barlows through a planned programme of development and support.
Stacey has provided staff training in computing across the school as part of the school INSET and staff
meeting programme. This has included skills sessions for Learning Support Assistants, training for teachers
which include using iMovie, I can Animate, Microsoft Kodu, Google Apps and Scratch. Stacey is keen to develop
computing activities which, where possible, use free software
She has delivered Computing presentations and workshops for the North Liverpool Teaching School
Partnership, Liverpool Local Authority, North Liverpool Learning Network, Dingle, Toxteth and Granby Learning
Network, Liverpool Hope University and Innovate my School. These presentations and workshops have included
Computing Learning journeys, approaches to using Geographical Information systems (GIS) in computing, the
new computing curriculum, Innovations and practice.
Stacey represents the school as part of the Liverpool LA and Sony, Little Big Planet (LBP) Gaming Project,
which involves using LBP on the Playstation and PS Vita to develop programming skills with upper Key Stage 2.
Stacey represented the project on the Sony Stand at BETT (British Educational Training and Technology) Show
in 2014, demonstrating the use of games creation in the curriculum.
In 2013, Stacey led the school (Upper KS2) in the National Microsoft Kodu Kup, in which the school was
selected as one of eleven schools (primary and secondary) to attend the Microsoft Kodu Kup finals in Reading.
She has developed a Digital Media Awards project across the whole school which included delivering staff
training, pupil workshops and a school celebration event. This project has been highly successful in developing
both staff and pupil skills in using Apple (iOS) technologies and Green Screening to develop film making skills.
She has led the school in developing a computing assessment system that is embedded in computing lessons.
Stacey is a CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) Ambassador, having developed skills, knowledge and
understanding in E-Safety.
Qualifications, Training and further experience
In addition to her degree (BEd Hons) Stacey has a Masters in Education, Leadership Pathways and the Post
Graduate Certification for Dyslexia Specialist Teaching.
She is currently completing the NPQSL programme and undertaking Tribal Training to further enhance her
skills, knowledge and understanding.
Stacey has experience in mentoring trainee teachers, NQTs and Middle Leaders.
