Home Depot can’t find enough software developers in
metro Atlanta to fend off the threat of e-commerce
retailers like Amazon. So the Atlanta-based home
improvement giant opened and staffed technology
centers in California and Texas.
The home improvement giant also imports about twothirds of its 700 or so programming geeks based in
Atlanta from other states and countries to build
smartphone apps and other technologies

Georgia,” he said.

Duluth-based NCR also needs more software developers.
Porsche, building a new North American headquarters
near the Atlanta airport, said it needs more accountants
and other office professionals. The German sports car
maker also needs automotive technicians — mechanics
with serious information technology skills who can earn
six-figures.

An Atlanta Journal-Constitution survey of top
economic development officials found six out of
ten said workforce quality is the biggest concern
raised by prospects considering Georgia.

The interest level of the local,
national, and international business
communities.
Let’s talk about the work we did in
Georgia with Siemens.
They were very interested.
gpss.co
The interest level of the local,
national, and international business
communities.
Siemens had several motivations that
are relevant.
gpss.co
The interest level of the local,
national, and international business
communities.
If an international company like
Siemens is interested, you know
others are as well.
gpss.co
The interest level of the local,
national, and international business
communities.
We have had interest from BMW,
Hyundai, local companies like
Southwire, and the list goes on.
gpss.co
Siemens, the process
It seems obvious, but you must
establish a contact person internally
who is responsible for the success of
the relationship.
gpss.co
Siemens, the process
You must empower the local point
person.
gpss.co
Siemens, the process
The most important skill is to listen.
What exactly does a company like
Siemens need?
gpss.co
Siemens, the process
Remember to listen, any problem that
comes up during the course of
relationship can be solved. If you listen!
gpss.co
Siemens, the process
Produce, we must give these companies
the skills they need and we must
combine it with the academics we
need.
