ALVARADO 4 Policies • Attendance and Punctuality: – – – – Lab attendance is mandatory. Labs will start on time. Absent students will get no credit for lab report. Students arriving up to 10 minutes late, will get a 10% deduction of lab report grade. After 10 minutes, no credit. – Special cases: case-by-case basis ENTC 303 PROF. ALVARADO 5 Policies • Lab Reports: – One report per team. – Submit reports on time. – Submit a hard copy signed by each member of team. – All lab reports should be printed on white A4 pages. – All lab reports are due one week after the lab session. – Late reports will not be accepted. ALVARADO 6 Policies • Lab Teams: – Teams of 3 or 4 members. – Students should send an e-mail to TA with the name and e-mail address of each team member. – Changing teams is allowed with the express consent of instructor. – Each team member should assume an equal portion of the lab and report writing tasks. ENTC 303 PROF. ALVARADO 7 Lab Safety - Rules • Always wear safety glasses. • Always wear covered shoes (sandals are not acceptable). • Always wear pants. ENTC 303 PROF. ALVARADO 8 Lab Safety - Rules • Do not turn on any equipment unless with the consent of the instructor or lab TA. • Learn the location of all safety equipment. • Absolutely No Smoking, eating, or drinking in the laboratory. • Clean your area at the conclusion of each experiment. ENTC 303 PROF. ALVARADO 9 Lab Safety • Use your common sense. • Be aware that you are working with potentially dangerous equipment. • In case of emergency: – Call 911 (9-911 from a campus phone) and have the following information ready: • Your name • Location • Specific information about the incident. – Be familiar with the evacuation routes. • Safety is everyone’s responsibility. ALVARADO 10 Lab Reports - Experiments • All reports must contain the following: – Title Page: It should include the title of the experiment, team member’s name, and date. – Objective: short statement of the purpose of the experiment. – Introduction: explanation of the problem giving the reader enough background. – Procedure: description of the experimental setup and steps followed during the experiment (a schematic drawing of the experiment is desired). – Findings: summary of the data of the experiment, it could be in the form of tables, figures, graphs. – Conclusions: interpretation of the results explaining how the objectives were accomplished. – Answers to Questions in lab manual.
