"Salman Khan said the SAT tutorials will
allow students of varying skills 'to start
wherever they are' academically. The
free and open access, he said, will start
'to level the playing field' with students
able to afford private tutors or coaching
from commercial firms."
- Los Angeles Times

What people are saying…
►
"It’s a radically democratic reboot of the test-prep industry, which
up until now reserved its advantages for the relatively well-heeled who
could afford their pricey tutorials. The tutorials themselves, which went
live this morning, are equally radical. They focused relentlessly on
real learning." - Wired.com
►
“Standardized test prep can often be financially prohibitive and this
new program may provide an open door for low-income, underresourced college aspirants,” adding that “...college preparation will
be more readily available without the socioeconomic barrier.” - Forbes

"Nicole Hurd, founder of a nonprofit called College Advising Corps that
places trained advisers in underserved high schools, was given a
preview of the materials and called them a 'real paradigm shift. I think
they are really trying to change this from test preparation to an
educational opportunity,' Hurd said." - Associated Press
