Physical Education Week 1 – 2 Flag Football Objective: Students will engage in physical activity while participating in a team sport. Goals: 1. Given a picture of a football field, the students will be able to list 85 percent of the field boundaries and lines. 2. Students will be able to kick five out of ten successful field goals. 3. Given examples of football grips, the student will be able to choose the grip that best fits his/her game. Skills Taught – catching, throwing, kicking and running pass routes. Skills Test – 10 throwing attempts from 15 feet into a 2 feet square taped box on the wall. 1 point for each correct attempt Week 3 – 4 Whiffle Ball/ Softball Objective: Students will display hand eye coordination while hitting the ball. Goals: 1. Students will pass the softball rules test with 85% accuracy. 2. When asked students will be able to demonstrate and describe a proper swing. Skills Taught – Proper swing, throwing and catching (normal, ground balls & pop flies) Skills Test – Students will demonstrate and describe a proper swing, proper way to field a ground ball and proper way to catch a pop fly. 3 points for each properly described skill Week 5 – 6 Volleyball Objective: Students will learn the history and skills related to volleyball. Goals: 1. Students will learn the history of volleyball by passing a quiz with 85 percent accuracy. 2. Students will recite the purpose of each boundary line on the volleyball court with 95 percent accuracy. 3. Students will be able to show three different types of hits. Skills Taught – bump, set, spike, under hand serve and over hand serve. Skills Test – Students will demonstrate and describe the three basic hits bump, set and spike. Students will also demonstrate and describe the over hand and under hand serves. 2 points for each correct description of the hits Week 7 - 8 Soccer Objective: Students will be able to improve their motor skills such as kicking. Goals: 1. Students will be able to kick a soccer ball into a large trash can 7 out of ten times from 15 feet way. 2. Students will display good sportspersonship while playing soccer during class. 3. Students will pass a rules and history test over soccer with 85% accuracy. Skills Taught – kicking, passing and dribbling Skills Test – Students will have ten chairs (cones) set up that they will have to dribble soccer style in and out of each cone only using one kick each and using alternating feet to kick. 1 point for each correct dribble Week 9 – 11 Basketball Objective: Students will be able to operate as a team. Goals: 1. Given a picture of a basketball court, the student will be able to list 90 percent of the court lines and boundaries. 2. Students will make seven out of ten free-throws. 3. Students will hit a circle on the wall four out of five times using a chest pass from fifteen feet. Skills Taught – ball handling, passing, shooting and defense Skills Test – Students will demonstrate and describe proper form of both the chest pass and bounce pass as they use these two types of passes 5 attempts each to pass a basketball into a 2 feet square taped box on the wall from 15 feet way. 1 point for each proper attempt Week 12 – 13 Kicking Sports Ex. Wall Ball, Kick Ball & Speedball Objective: Students will be introduced to new games. Goals: 1. Students will score 80 percent or higher on a rules test. 2. Students will be able to hit tape on the wall seven out of ten times by kicking a wall ball any way they choose from fifteen feet. 3. Students will play one full game of Wall Ball while displaying proper Sportspersonship. Skills Taught- kicking, catching and throwing Skills Test – Students will kick a soccer ball into a trash can that is laid down. They will have 10 attempts from 15 feet away. 1 point for each proper attempt Week 14 – 15 Hockey Objective: Students will closely follow all rules for safety to play hockey. Goals: 1. Students will use proper form and score a goal into the net 7 out of 10 times with 85% accuracy. 2. Students will display knowledge of proper safety while playing hockey during class. 3. Students will use the knowledge of the history and rules by passing a quiz with 80% accuracy. Skills Taught- hitting, passing and dribbling Skills Test – Students will use a hockey stick to hit a puck into the net from approximately 25 feet for a total of 10 attempts. 1 point for each proper attempt Week 16 -17 Net Sports Ex. Pickle Ball, Badminton & Ping Pong Objective: Students will learn the history, rules and how to play of various net games. Goals: 1. Students will demonstrate the proper way of hitting the ping pong ball while participating in our class tournament. 2. Students will be able to list three rules for pickle ball. 3. Given a picture of a badminton court the student will name all the lines involved with 80 percent accuracy Skills Taught- proper hitting form and serves Skills Test – Students will properly demonstrate 10 serves of either of the three sports. 1 point for each proper attempt Week 18 Hand Ball Objective: Students will be able to move and strike the ball with their hands while using proper form. Goals: 1. Students will understand hand ball enough to participate in a singles and doubles tournament during class. 2. Students will be able to serve a handball 7 out of 10 times into a 3 feet taped box on the wall from 15 feet away. Skills Taught – hitting form and serve Skills Test – Students will properly serve a handball a total of ten times. 1 point for each proper attempt
