Materials needed: 5 sheets of colored paper, scissors, markers, 1 sheet of cardstock paper, 2 paper
clips, hole puncher
Preparation: 1) Make a hamburger fold with 5 sheets of colored paper.
2) Cut the paper along the fold.
3) Make a hamburger fold out of each half sheet.
Part 1
1) Use 1 folded half-sheet to make a tree ornament. On the front, write a problem that may be on
the final exam. Be sure to include the Ch. And lesson number this problem came from,
directions (not the steps). This problem may come from the book, but MAY NOT be the
examples in the book or in your notes.
2) On the inside, solve the problem, showing all work.
3) Design and decorate your ornament. Turn in Wednesday, 12/2/15 (-2 each day this is late-not
accepted after Mon, 12/7/15.)
Part 2
4) Choose 2 different types of problems from each of chapters 2,3,4,5,6. (Be sure to choose
problems that we learned in the class and that may be on the exam!)
5) On a sheet of notebook paper, do a draft of your work. Include the Ch. And section number that
your problem came from, directions (as they would be written in the book or on a worksheet),
problem, work, and correct answer. ROUGH DRAFT DUE DEC 3
6) On the outside of each of the remaining colored halves, write the Ch. And section number,
directions (as they would be written in the book or on a worksheet) and the problem. (just copy
from your draft!)
7) On the top inside of the card, write the generic steps (from your notes) of how to solve that
TYPE of problem.
8) On the bottom inside of the card, correctly work out the problem and write the answer.
9) Fold the card stock paper in half and cut along the fold. Make a hamburger fold for one half.
This is your cover of your book.
10) Punch 2 holes along the crease of the book. Use string to hold the pages together.
11) Title the book “I CAN DO FOUNDATIONS OF ALGEBRA!” and put your name on the front of the
book.
12) Decorate your book! Turn in Mon, 12/14/15 (-10 each day project is late - not accepted after
Fri, 12/18/15)
ALL WORK SHOULD BE DONE WITH MARKERS!!! (may use other materials for decorating)
