The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. 6. The
Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque to all those who
keep the First Friday Devotions are:
1. "I will give them all the graces necessary in their
state of life." 2. "I will establish peace in their
homes."
3. "I will comfort them in their afflictions." 4. "I will
be their secure refuge during life, and above all in
death." 5. "I will bestow a large blessing upon all
their undertakings." 6. "Sinners shall find in My
Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy."
7. "Tepid souls shall grow fervent." 8. "Fervent
souls shall quickly mount to high perfection." 9. "I
will bless every place where a picture of My Heart
shall be set up and honoured." 10. "I will give to
priests the gift of touching the most hardened
hearts."
11. "Those who shall promote this devotion shall
have their names written in My Heart, never to be
blotted out." 12. "I promise thee in the excessive
mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will
grant to all those who communicate on the First
Friday in nine consecutive months, the grace of
final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace
nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Divine
heart shall be their safe refuge in this last
moment."
PARISH SUMMER FETE: I truly wish to thank Sue
and Steve Meter for acting as co-ordinators for this
year’s Fete and to John Jenkins, John Alway and
the many other parishioners who put so much
hard work into making the event happen. Imagine
therefore my disappointment at the miserable
turnout of parishioners and therefore the lack of
support given by the majority to the hard work of a
minority who gave so much of their time for
everyone else. Despite this the Fete produced a
total income for the Parish including the Raffle of
£1766.10 to which you will of course ALL benefit.
The Raffle, so well run by the CWL brought in
£829.00. on its own. Again, my sincere thanks to
all who made this possible and who provided a
feast for their brothers and sisters who failed to
come.
SUE & STEVE METER would like to express their
heartfelt gratitude to those parishioners who
supported and helped them in any way prepare for
the fete and make it happen on the day itself. God
bless you all.

"ON BEHALF OF THE APOSTLESHIP OF THE
SEA, the local volunteer ship visitors would like to
thank the parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea
for their extremely generous Sea Sunday 2013
donations, so far totalling £1,204. That is even
more than the £1,133 donated last year! Your
donations will be significantly increased by the Gift
Aid income tax recovery, too. Without your
generosity, Apostleship of the Sea would not be
able to minister to seafarers in difficulty, and your
donations are a tremendous help with this work.
Our Lady Star of the Sea is indeed a very
supportive parish, reflecting the long, proud
maritime tradition of Weymouth and Portland. You
really are the Good Samaritans of Sea Sunday's
Holy Gospel."

WALKING TO JERUSALEM: On Friday 2nd
August a pilgrim friend of mine Ann Milner, will be
giving a talk with photographs in Saint Joseph's
Parish Hall at 7.00pm, about her pilgrimage from
Rome to Jerusalem. As Ann has written to me " In
2010 I left St Peter's Square to walk alone to
Jerusalem " What happened on her journey, which
way did she go (you will be surprised), and how did
she cope? Did she in fact get there? All these and
other questions will be answered on the night. A
truly incredible and inspiring story. Entrance will
be free but any donations to Pax Christi will be
appreciated. Light refreshments etc will be
available. Joe Patterson
