Tips for the Captain:

Cause – Reflected by the ideals associated with the French Revolution, it was argued
that only each nation could truly create a democracy and stability for itself

Effect – Europe’s countries unified and nationalized large populations; With European
countries in control of so much of the world, Europeans defined the ground
rules of the international state system, and the modern nation-state become
the model for emerging countries around the world; Later, when European
colonial systems collapsed, newly liberated peoples created “nation-states”
based upon the European model. On the map, former colonies became new
nation-states.

– SWBAT Explain how the Treaty of Versailles (1919),
global depression, and the actions of the Axis
powers led to WWII.


– Using all of this unit’s objectives, draw a flow chart
connecting Imperialism to World War II.
 Include a description of how each objective was connected within the
chart
