Youth Band Tryout Lyric Sheet
Here’s a few things you need to know before trying out.
1. Tryouts will take place on Tuesday Night, April 28.
2. Upon signing up, we will contact you and get you the necessary resources (CD’s,
lyrics, lead sheets, tabs, chords, etc). We will also sign you up for a certain time
slot on the night of the tryout. If you are late for your time slot, you will have to
wait until everyone is done (several hours) to try out.
3. The CD’s you were given are expected to be brought back. The temptation is to
burn the songs, or import them to your own library at home, but that’s illegal,
and not the reason you were given the CD’s. You MUST bring them back when
you try out.
4. On the CD’s, there are 5 tracks. The first two tracks are basically the same song
(the first track is an instrumental introduction to the second track). You need to
be prepared to sing/play all 4 songs.
5. These are called try-outs because there are some that will be asked to come
back and practice full time, and some will not. If you are afraid of being told no,
then it’s probably not a great idea to try out.
6. Trying out for the youth band is also a very important commitment. If we decide
that you are a good fit for the band, and receive a call, you will still have the
opportunity to turn it down. However, if you accept, you will be asked to sign an
agreement that you will not participate in certain activities as long as you’re in
the band. The worship band is a ministry, just like any other.
7. You need to let us know which instrument (voice, if singing) you are planning to
try out for. We need to be prepared to hook you in. If you’re instrument is the
drums, then you won’t need to bring your set – we’ll have a kit ready to play.
Otherwise, BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT!
All in all, we’re looking for people who’s hearts are after God, and who would love to
serve in this area of ministry. This isn’t a rock show, and rock star attitudes will not be
welcome. We ask that you pray before trying out, as this is a very big deal! Thanks for
trying out – let’s lead the students in our community to Christ!!!
