Course Syllabus Algebra 2 PreAP/GT 2013-2014 Teacher Name: Karleigh Suderman Room Number: 363 Telephone Number: (832)484-4223 Conference Period: 6th Email: Ksuderman1@kleinisd.net TEKS for Course Student objectives are listed in the calendar/outline section of this document by six weeks. A complete list and description of the TEKS for Algebra 2 (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) can be found at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/rules/tac/chapter111/ch111c.html#111.32. Grading Determination Major Grades: 60% Daily Grades: 30% Homework: 10% There will be at least three major grades and six minor grades each six weeks. Late Work Procedure Late homework not presented at the time of the initial checking but turned in before the test will be accepted for late with no more than a 30% deduction off the original credit. Homework packets not presented at the time of initial checking will be accepted up to three days late with a penalty of 10% per day deducted for each day late. Daily assignments, enrichment packets, and projects will be can be turned in one day late for 10% off, 2 days late for 20% off, and 3 days late for 30% off. No credit will be given after 3 days late. Unit Test Retesting Procedure In lieu of retaking an entire test, students will have an opportunity to earn points back on any UNIT test if the unit test grade is 69 or lower. Points will be earned back through test corrections. Students must complete test corrections in presence of a teacher in order to earn points back. Test corrections will be graded and students can earn back up to half of the original points deducted; however, the student’s final grade on the unit test cannot exceed a 70. In addition, the lowest unit test grade will be dropped at the end of each 6-weeks if it is to the student’s advantage (it will improve their overall 6-weeks average). Projects Projects will be assigned periodically. Project grades will be recorded as daily grades. Outline/Calendar Six weeks lesson plans are kept current on my teacher website.
