Spanish III-Mr. Ruiz Room #109 rruiz@lakeworth.k12.tx.us 817-306-4200 About Me This will be my second year teaching here at Lake Worth and my 6th year overall. My wife, daughter and I moved to the DFW metroplex from a small town in East Texas, which is where I grew up. I attended school at Stephen F. Austin State University. I have coached in the past, but have taken a break from it the past couple of years to enjoy time with my family. I enjoy watching and playing all sports. I love to be outdoors. During the summer you can probably find me fly fishing on a river in Colorado, or travelling someplace new. I love music, and trying new things (especially foods)! Course Description and Goals I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Lake Worth High School and to my Spanish III class. I am looking forward to an awesome year and the opportunity to get to know you and your child. I believe that language acquisition and exposure to different cultures is very important. We will engage in a wide variety of activities this year ranging from weekly notecards, power points and notes, classroom discussions, group activities, and individual projects. In order for all of us to have a successful year I hope to gain your full support in the classroom in guiding your student to being the best they can be inside the classroom and out. I believe that everyone has the necessary tools to excel in my classroom. I will communicate weekly through email to give you an idea of what we’ll be covering in class and any items you should be looking for to come home with your child. If you ever have a question, concern, or comment, please feel free to contact me at rruiz@lake-worth.k12.tx.us Classroom Expectations/Supplies I expect my students to be kind, courteous, and respectful of me as well as their peers in, and out, of my classroom. Students are expected to bring something to write with and a single subject notebook to class EVERY DAY. Electronic devices will be used in class at my discretion. If they are being used at inappropriate times they will be taken up by me. Extra Credit is not available Homework is not common, but is a possibility if class time is not used properly. Most projects will be done during the class period. All students will be expected to keep a journal of information for the year. This journal will serve as their study guide for test and quizzes as well as a place to keep their agenda for my class and other miscellaneous information.
