All courses must be approved by local
curriculum committee composed of faculty and
others as agreed upon by the academic senate
and the administration.
 All courses must be approved by the district
governing board.


(a) Requirements for a major or area of
emphasis.
(1) At least 18 semester or 27 quarter units of
study must be taken
 in
a single discipline or related disciplines, as listed
in the community colleges "Taxonomy of Programs,"
or
 in an area of emphasis involving lower division
coursework which prepares students for a field of
study or for a specific major at UC or CSU

A major may be defined

the lower-division requirements of a specific
major at the University of California or California
State University
 18 or more units in a field or related fields


An area of emphasis is a broader group of courses
and may be defined as 18 or more units in related
fields intended to:
prepare for a particular major at 4-year institution or
 prepare for a particular field (career)

All courses may not transfer, although they may




effective for the Fall 2008 term



