Born on April 23, 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon,
Warwickshire, England

Shakespeare had seven siblings

Shakespeare attended school until the age of fourteen.



At the age of eighteen Shakespeare married twentysix year old Anne Hathaway.
They had a daughter-Susanna, and twins-Hamnet and
Judith. Hamnet died at age eleven.
Shakespeare spent most of his life in London working
on his plays while his family remained in Stratford.



In the theater industry, Shakespeare worked his
way up from the bottom up. He started as an actor
in an acting troop in Lord Chamberlain’s Men
which was later renamed The King’s Men.
Shakespeare started writing and his plays quickly
gained popularity.
After Shakespeare’s career as a playwright took
off, he became co-owner of the Globe theater with
his long time friend Richard Burbage who
inherited it from his father James Burbage.



Shakespeare had two royal patrons throughout
his career: Queen Elizabeth I and King James I.
Shakespeare retired in 1610 after making a
considerable amount of money from his plays.
Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616 at the age of 52
