Financial Information
The cost is $485 per credit or $1455.00 per 3 credit course. Your bill will reflect the entire semester’s
charges and is based upon the number of courses per semester. Payment is due 2 weeks prior to the start of
each semester.
Please choose one of the following payment options:
1.
If not applying for financial aid or receiving reimbursement from employer, you must pay for each
semester at least two weeks prior to the start of that semester. Students will be responsible to reconcile their
entire fall semester tuition. Students with questions regarding payment may call Student Financial Services

2.
Federal Stafford Loan: This option is based upon your loan eligibility, as determined by the
Student Financial Services Office. If you are interested in applying for a Federal Stafford Loan, please
complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please
designate on the FAFSA that you want your application information sent to Bay Path University by
including our school code #002122. The FAFSA should be completed at least three weeks prior to the start

If you are enrolled in a combined M.S.Ed. / Ed.S. Degree Program, you must be enrolled in courses every
semester and be formally accepted into both degree programs. Please see admissions for additional
information.
*and ** = Classes must be taken concurrently.
*** = NEED TO HAVE ACCESS TO LEARNERS TO TEST.
EXT 099 (0 credits) needs to be completed prior to enrolling in an online or hybrid course.
If part of a weekend class is cancelled due to weather, the class will be held on Sunday of that weekend.
Dates and/or course offerings and/or course format (weekends/online) are subject to change. Several
courses are offered on Sunday and weeknights.
Weekend = Friday 5 pm - 9 pm; Saturday/Sunday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Attendance Policy - For every hour of class that is missed, two points are subtracted from the final grade.
A student may not enroll in a practicum until all required MTEL’s have been passed and all program
requirements have been met.
A passing grade in EDU 554 and EDU 555 are required before beginning the practicum.
The pre-practicum/practicum is a full-time one semester or yearlong experience (SeptemberDecember/January-May or September to May) and no other day jobs are possible during this time period.
Students must complete a CORI (Criminal Offense Records Investigation) and any other requirements as
mandated by a school district. Students must begin this experience the end of August/first week of
September (the first day of the school year for teachers) or the first day back from winter holiday break in
January. There are no exceptions. The final grade will not be recorded until the end of the spring
semester.
Students in the M.S.Ed. / Ed.S. Degree Program in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction
can begin with any 500 level course except the pre-practicum, practicum or seminar course.
To qualify for the scholarship or Stafford loan, a student must take at least 6 credits every semester.
All courses are 3 credits, unless otherwise noted.
Codes: Section 20, 21–Longmeadow; Section 30, 31–Burlington; Section 40–CMC, Section Z–Online,
Section H–Hybrid (H1–Longmeadow; H2–Burlington.). A student can take courses at any of these
locations. Please note: Section 34, 35, Z4, and Z5 are courses only for off-site programs and only
employees for these programs can enroll in these course sections.
The student must earn grades of B or better in all courses in the program. If a student earns a B- in a
course, the student must pay and retake this course and receive a B or better. A grade of C+ or below will
cause an automatic withdrawal from the program.
The student must pass the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) prior to entering
practicum. To earn a license in Elementary Education Levels 1-6 there are three required MTEL
sections: Communication & Literacy, General Curriculum (multi-subject and math), and
Foundations of Reading. It is the student’s responsibility to register for the tests and to be aware of
registration deadlines, appropriate tests, and rules of test participation. Classes may be held on computer
based testing MTEL dates. Students are not exempt from BPU classes on computer based testing MTEL
dates. Please plan your test dates accordingly.
The MTEL Communication and Literacy should be taken upon admission to the graduate program in
Elementary Education (if not taken at an earlier time). This is a test of basic college-level reading and
writing.
For a fall practicum placement, the May MTEL administration is the last one that will be considered.
Because of the lateness of the May administration score report date (mid June), September placement is

NOT guaranteed. (If a spring placement is being utilized as an add-on license, the September MTEL
administration is the last one that will be considered.)
A student will be eligible for a pre-practicum/practicum placement when s/he has passed all required
components of the MTEL, holds a 3.0 cum grade point average, has a grade of B or better in every
course, and has completed the required coursework. There is an option to delay practicum (pending no
DESE regulation changes) if these requirements are not met. Please see program coordinator for
additional details.
A student enrolled in non- licensure program in Elementary Education does NOT have to pass the
MTEL’s. A student in this program does NOT earn a license issued by the Massachusetts Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education through Bay Path University.
A student requesting professional licensure needs to submit all required MTEL scores and a copy of the
initial license at the time of admission.
A student who holds a provisional score on the math MTEL will need to retake the math section of the
MTEL and receive a passing score prior to acceptance into either licensure program.
All courses need to be completed by the time the student completes the practicum.
Each student must check his/her BPU Google email account on a daily basis. All information about the
School is posted in the School of Education Group in Canvas. Please check weekly.
As of July 1, 2014, each student in a licensure program will be required to complete SPE 548 or its
equivalent in order to seek licensure.
Requirements in the graduate program in education are subject to modification due to changes as
stipulated by Bay Path University and/or recommendations from the Massachusetts Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education.
Please see graduate catalog for refund policy and all-college/program policies.
