Your task is to compare life as Huxley describes it in the World State with life in the United
States today. The essay must be at least 5 paragraphs and typed in MLA style, size 12,
Times New Roman, and Double-Spaced.
•
Include an introduction, 3 or more body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Be sure to
incorporate CDs (Concrete details/facts/quotes/events/examples from the novel and U.S.
society and CMs (Commentaries/Analysis/Explanations of these facts).
•
You must include at least 2 CDS (Quotes from the novel) in each body paragraph and
discuss them. Thus, 6 quotes from the text for the body paragraphs are required.
•
You must begin your Introduction with a quote that is an effective attention grabber.
•
Include at least 3 aspects of life in your essay:
• Human life/death
• Love and Marriage
• Art (literature, film, art, architecture, etc.)

• One aspect/area of life must be your focus
• Topic Sentences which includes the aspect/area and an
opinion about it
• Concrete Details (At least 2 textual quotes per body
paragraph)
• Commentaries (At least 2 sentences that comment on,
explain, analyze each quote)
• NOTE: Should be the comparisons between the World State
and the United States
• Closing Sentences which wraps up the paragraph and
slightly mentions/transitions to the next body
paragraph
Conclusion
• 5-6 Sentences
• Restate your thesis, perhaps with a different
choice of words.
• Provide a recap of your body paragraphs.
• Last Sentence-End with a final statement,
challenge, or question.
