Section 1: Multiple Choice Listening tips • Long Dialogues • Long narratives • 2 minutes to read over before listening to recording • Read, listen for any sources, setting, general information • You may listen first/take notes OR • Try to answer questions as the recording is playing • LISTEN Section 1: Multiple Choice Reading Comprehension Tips: • Journalistic and/or literary selections followed by Comprehension questions • Quickly scan questions first • Read carefully • Underline, circle anything that you think is important General Tips for Multiple Choice • Concentrate on What YOU KNOW • DO NOT get hung up on unknown vocabulary • Guess if you can eliminate two answers Section II: Free Response Interpersonal Writing (informal) • 10 minutes/ 60 words or more • Context may be email, letter, short note etc. • Focus on task completion, language use, and topic development • 10% of free response score Tips • Address each bullet point!! • Follow instructions • Make sure you have a salutation & closing • Be careful with tenses • If you have time to edit, do so!
