My Reading Story
My story begins when I was born. My mother and father read to me easy
books, I didn’t even understood. When I entered to the day care they
teached me how to read basic words in Spanish like
" Hola, amarillo,
Rojo, Mama, papa" and a lot of basic words. I knew how to talk, but not to
read very good. When I got to K4 in the school they thought me how to
read a little more of Spanish. When my English reading started, I was in
K5 they started teaching me English but only basic words, like “ Hi, Mom,
Dad, Good-bye” and words like that. My mom bought me a lot of baby
books and she encouraged me to read, but I wasn’t really into reading.
Like my mother and my older sister were always reading, I started
reading a little bit. I liked to read when I played that I was a teacher, I
read to my teddy bears and to every toy I had.
When I got to first grade, I still liked to read I read my first chapter book
that was “Junie B. Jones”, I loved those books and I read all the
collection. When I got to third grade I read all of the books of Franie K.
Stein there were like 7 books and I read them all. I loved those books
they made me laugh a lot. I like to read funny books or funny but with
mystery, I love those books but didn’t like to read books I needed to read
at school because I don’t like the topics.
During Elementary I read a lot of books I read, “Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory, The Tale of Dexperouse, Series of Unfortunate Events, and
Gossamer, and a lot more!” The one I liked the most was Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory because it was very funny.
My felling’s for reading are not good. Like when I am playing or watching
T.V I don’t like to read, I do not feel excitement for reading. When I am
going to my farm or somewhere else I always take my book but I never
read because when I get to the place I find more exiting things to do,
things
I
like
more
than
reading.
But then I get to fifth grade and the teacher told us to go to the carpet,
that we were going to read and talk about the book we were reading. We
all went to the carpet and I sat at the side of my friend Adelaida and we
started talking and talking and then the teacher comes and tells us “you
two have to be quiet because maybe Adelaida doesn’t need to hear that
well but Sofia does” because she is not doing a very good job in her
quizzes. I was very shied because she embarrassed me at front of the
whole class. Since that I don't like to read a lot, and I haven't find a book
that I really like since then. Now I am reading one of a girl that rides a
horse and it seems quite interesting!
My goals for the future to read is enjoy it and like to read, try very hard to
read a lot and if I don't understand write down notes and use all the help I
can get to became a better reader. I think I also have to let spaces of my
day to read because I prefer to go out and play and do fun stuff, but I also
have to improve my reading.
