“ We shall see this day light such a candle, by God’s grace, in
England, as I trust shall never be put out.”
The woman is saying this as the firemen are burning down her
house and then commits suicide. She’s trying to tell the
firemen that what they’re doing is wrong because people
should have the right to read. This quote is put in the book to
prove the point that burning books is a bad thing. This point
changes Montag’s mind about book burning, by making him
feel guilty.

“He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run
off across the lawn with the mask and there was no way
of going to knock on her door and ask for it back”
(Bradbury 12).
This quotes occurs right after Montag’s meeting with
Clarisse. It shows the impact Clarisse made on Guy. Guy
Montag loved what he did and his job, but she
completely took that happiness away and made him
think about his life. This impacts Montag tremendously as
it shows the influence that one five minute conversation
has on him. This could impact the outcome of the book
because Montage admits that he isn’t happy, and he
might do something different.
