After Reading
• What is the purpose of this selection?
• Overall, the reading skill for today is the capability of explaining the author’s
argument.
What ways can an author create effective writing for their argument?
• Hint: Use Textual Evidence Here
EXAMPLE- I DO
• I read an editorial in the newspaper that argues for carpooling to work. My
daughter asks me what I read. I say: “The author believes that by carpooling
to work, we save the environment, reduce traffic, and connect with your
fellow co-workers. He understands that most people enjoy the convenience
fusing their own cars and that sometimes carpooling will mean they have
less freedom to go somewhere after work. Also, he feels that people should
give up personal convenience for the good of society.”
• What have I just explained about the author to my daughter?
