Let’s plant some color!!
Care for all Verbenas
Verbena is a perennial plant which demands a full sun location. Plants growing in low light areas will bloom poorly if at
all. Blooms from spring until frost,. Keep plants evenly moist until established, when they can tolerate some dry spells.
Verbenas aren’t heavy feeders, but they do appreciate a monthly application of balanced flower fertilizer to help them
keep up the flower show. Great as a ground cover or in a hanging basket!!

happy. Grow lantana flowers in the garden or in containers. Lantanas also make a great choice for those wishing to

warm weather returns. It does best in loamy or sandy soil that is well drained. It doesn’t do well with wet feet. While
they will grow in full sun to partial shade, growing shrimp plants where they receive morning sun is ideal. They need the
sun to bring out the brightest colors and, yet, too much sun will cause the colors to fade too soon. Shrimp plant care
should also include frequent trimming to encourage fuller growth and more bloom
Moss Rose (Portulaca grandiflora) –4” pot $1.00
Considered a ground cover, moss rose only reaches a height of 4 to 6 inches. Although moss roses tolerate dry, infertile
soil, they’ll grow better with a little care. Water them every week or so during dry conditions. Water first thing in the
morning so the leaves dry quickly. Likes full to partial sun
Sun Bright Pink Begonias—6” pot $3.00

compact shape. A little care will pay you back with lusher foliage and more blooms.

Red Bougainville—4” pot $1.75
Bougainvillea is a large, shrublike vine that grows exceptionally well in warm coastal climates. In ideal conditions and
with proper care, bougainvillea can bloom as many as 11 months out of the year and, as perennials, can return year
after year as long as they are not exposed to harsh winter temperatures. Plant bougainvillea in a location with lots of
sunlight. Full sun exposure is essential for bougainvillea plants, and they will not bloom in shade. Water bougainvillea
enough to keep the soil moist but not soaking wet. Dry soil stresses the plants and can reduce blooming, but wet,
waterlogged soil can cause root rot and make the plants susceptible to pest problems.
Red Leaf Hibiscus—4” pot $1.75
Red-leaf hibiscus, a perennial, requires plenty of full sunlight and moist, well-drained soil for proper growth. Red leaf
hibiscus can grow up to 15 feet tall in some conditions. The leaves on this plant are actually red which makes it a very
attractive plant especially when paired with lighter green plants.
Candy Corn Plant—4” pot $1.00
Candy corn plants can be grown in full sun or partial shade. Candy corn plants prefer soil with adequate aeration and
good drainage. A mixture of equal parts peat moss, perlite and all-purpose potting soil makes a lightweight potting
media suitable for containers or hanging baskets. During periods of active growth, typically from spring until fall, the
candy corn plant prefers evenly moist soil. However, during the winter, when the plant is dormant, it requires little
water to survive. Candy corn plants can be grown in hanging baskets or containers and allowed to trail over the sides. If
grown upright, these vigorous vines require support.
