 Cluster project in 9 energy intensive subsectors:
• foundry, sponge iron, textiles, electroplating, brick kilns, ceramics,
glassware, cement plants, paper industry
 Example: pilot project in the ceramics industry (2006-2010)
• 100 walk through audits identified significant Energy saving potentials
• Savings potential in Morbi SME cluster: 6.6 PJ (15%) / 0.44 Mt CO2
• Recommendations implemented: reduced excess air, waste heat
recovery, proper drying green wares, variable frequency drives
 Project scale: 7.2 M U$S GEF + 26 M U$S co financing
 Significant replication & carbon reduction potential
 Potential for project replication could be eligible for programmatic CDM
modality
