Lockheed Martin is a large, multi-national corporation specialising in the management of
complex technology programmes. The Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS)
Engineering & Technology Capability (E&TC) Organisation supports Public Services,
Security & Defence and Transportation & Energy lines of business in various UK locations,
including; Farnborough, Gloucester, Lincoln, London, Malvern and Whiteley.
Internationally, the IS&GS E&TC Organisation comprises 15,600 engineers, providing our
UK workforce with access to a wide-range of skilled technical professionals and Lockheed
Martin expertise, technology and capabilities.
Our products and services include: Air Traffic Management, Communications Systems
(Data Links), Geospatial Intelligence, Information Assurance, Information Communications
Technology, Intelligence Analysis Applications, IT and Network Design and Support.
Lockheed Martin has entered a strategic partnership with one of it’s customers that
strengthens the existing supplier relationship and underlines their commitment to further
enable improved efficiency, safety and passenger experience across airports and air traffic
systems worldwide.
The programme will see our customer move to a new technology platform that will improve
operational resilience and offer greater service flexibility. The European Union has an
objective to reform air traffic management (ATM) in Europe in order to cope with a
sustained air traffic growth and air traffic operations under the safest, more cost- and flightefficient and environmentally friendly conditions. This implies de-fragmenting the European
airspace, reducing delays, increasing safety standards and flight efficiency to reduce the
aviation environmental footprint and reducing costs related to service provision.
Lockheed Martin heritage companies pioneered the development of modern air traffic
control systems in the United States more than 50 years ago. Today our systems handle
75 per cent of the air traffic in the States and approximately 60 per cent of the world’s air
traffic, including many countries with their own advanced avionics industries. When it
comes to air traffic safety and efficiency, Lockheed Martin’s proven track record and
industry-leading innovations make it the world’s most trusted air traffic control partner.
