Life Science Applications: Agriculture, Fisheries, Social and Demographic issues, etc.
Carlos Braumann; Patricia Filipe; Clara Carlos; Nuno Brites: Dynamical
modelling in randomly varying environments of the size of wildlife populations
(and applications in fisheries) and of the size of individual farm animals using
stochastic differential equations (SDE). Associated profit optimization issues and
statistical issues of parameter estimation and prediction. Also other applications of
SDE’s [in finance with Manuela Larguinho mmlarguinho@gmail.com; in time

and analyse economic-statistical performance of these control charts considering usual
and new comparison criteria. Modeling and monitoring educational data (students
performance, duration of the master's thesis, time of administrative procedures) and
healthcare data (manchester database, waiting time in the emergency room, survival
time of HIV patients, survival time of patients with cancer. Benefits of active aging collaboration with Évora Municipality; Project AdolesSer for health education for
sexual and reproductive health - collaboration with Health Centers Grouping of
Alentejo Central.

C: Stochastic and Mathematical Physics
C1 e C2: Fractional Processes and grey Brownian motion; Infinite particle systems and
Polymer Physics
José Luís e Ludwig Streit: Self-avoiding random path models for polymer configurations
have been studied extensively in mathematics using combinatorics, stochastic analysis, in
statistical mechanics, and in computer physics using Monte Carlo methods. The field is
highly interdisciplinary, the motivation came from chemistry, while physics provides
structural intuition. The mathematical results are less far-reaching but provide the higher
reliability characteristic of the mathematical approach; much remains to be done in the
stochastic analysis setting. joses@staff.uma.pt; streit@physik.uni-bielefeld.de
