PRONOUN: a word used to replace a
noun.
 Example: Joe is in the seventh grade.
He is thirteen.

ANTECEDENTS of pronouns are the words
in the sentence for which the pronoun
stands.
 Pronouns always agree in number
(singular or plural), person (1st, 2nd, 3rd),
and gender (male, female, neuter) with
their antecedents.
 Example: Sam brought his book to class.
The boys brought their books to
class.

By person:
 1st person speaking (I, we)
 2nd person spoken to (you)
 3rd person spoken about (he, she, it, they,
them)
And by case:
 Nominate
 Objective
 Possessive
These are subject pronouns
 Subject: I went home.
 Predicate nominative: The winner was
he.
 Appositive: We, John and I, played ball.
