“Cask of Amontillado”—Contract of Creativity
You must complete 5 out of the 11 items on this list. The items need to be creative, explanatory, unique,
have elaborate designs, and relate to the story. The more creative and unique that the 5 items you turn in the
BETTER your grade. USE CORRECT GRAMMAR! 15 points for each item, and 15 points for having it
organized and labeled, and 10 points for presenting one item per person—all items need to be inside manila
FOLDER!
If **** are beside an item, you must first create a “rough draft” on paper and then create it using Microsoft
Publisher or Microsoft Word on Friday.
If * is beside the item you can complete it on paper or the computer.
1. A decorated mask- a mask that is decorated that one could wear to a masquerade ball, on the back you
must include details about a masquerade ball, or details from the carnival that happened in the story.
2. ****Invitation to a masquerade ball or carnival- create a rough draft on Wednesday and then type
and decorate an invitation on Microsoft Publisher. Your invitation needs to have a place, time, date,
theme, RSVP section, graphics, pictures, designs, and important information about the carnival. Also, it
needs to include instructions about the expected dress of the guests.
3. *A coat of arms, seal, family crest- create and design a family crest or seal. Include an important
quote, that is your motto (statement you live by), include several beliefs, include a few pictures, relate
back to the one from “Cask of Amontillado”
4. *Missing Person Report- create a missing person report for Fortunato like the police would use.
Include details like name, place, description of the character, health status, last place seen, and a short
narrative of how the person went missing.
5. *Compare/Contrast- Create a double bubble map that compares and contrasts Fortunato and
Montresor..make sure you have five bubbles on each side and five bubbles in the middle. All bubbles
must be completed in DETAILED sentences.
6. ****Label Maker- Create a label for the Amontillado bottle that is related to the story.
7. ****Interview questions- 15 interview questions and answers. Need to have a rough draft of the
questions hand written. Type all questions and answers on technology day. The questions need to be
questions that an investigator would ask Montresor to get him to confess to the crime of killing
Fortunato. Make sure all of the questions interrogate Montresor, and all of the answers should be
Montresor’s answers.
8. Map of the Catacombs-Draw a map of the catacombs. Insert certain specific examples from the story.
Or create a comic strip showing the steps as Montresor lead Fortunato through the staircase down to the vault.
9. Draw the Final Scene- Draw a UNIQUE, creative, and illustrated final scene. (Stick figures not
acceptable!) Think about the brick wall, Fortunato chained up, and Montresor leaving. Show
expression. This is for ART students!
10. *Front page of Newspaper- Create a front page of the newspaper for the day that Fortunato’s body is
discovered, needs a headline, front page article, pictures, a short opinion article about guilt or revenge,
and more…
11. Toolkit- Create a toolkit, draw, design and include all the materials that Montresor would have needed
for his journey down the catacombs to complete his revengeful plan.

ITEMS!! 3 or more complete on the computer!! Do your best!
