The End of the Gods, Giants, and the World
Odin seeking a prophecy.
Mimur at Mimur’s Well in Jotenheim
The price of a
drink was Odin’s
right eye.
Odin learns:
The day of Ragna Rok, or the end battle of
good and evil, when the world shall end,
will not begin until the most beloved son of
Odin and Frigga dies.
Loki, not a god,
but a sometimes
friend of the gods.
He is a trickster,
often causing
mischief as well
as solving
problems. He is
Odin’s blood
brother until he
betrays him.
Loki and his
faithful wife,
Sigyn. She
stands by
him even
when he
deserves it
not.
Loki had three monstrous children that the Aesir feared.
Hel, half
woman,
half
corpse,
ruler of
Niflheim
Fenris, the savage wolf.
Midgardsorm, the sea serpent.
Frigga circled the world asking everything to swear an oath
that it would never harm Balder.
To celebrate, a great
feast was held to
celebrate Balder’s
health and safety,
and everyone was
having a marvelous
time, except…….
….Hoder. He wasn’t
having any fun because
he couldn’t see Balder to
throw anything at him.
Not to worry. His good
friend Loki would help.
Balder died instantly,
and went to Niflheim.
Tiu went to
retrieve
him.
Hel would
only give
him up if...
Tiu loses his
hand to Fenris
Loki’s punishment.
Fenris/Odin die.
Thor/Midgardsorm die.
ARF!
Loki/Heimdall die.
Death of Mimur
Tiu is killed by a vicious dog.
The Universe was destroyed. And the only two beings left…..
were a man and a woman, Lif and Lifthrasur, who had slept through the entire
struggle in the forest in a place where the devastation had not reached. They
went on to repopulate the world. We are their descendents.
