Continuing and Expanding
A Sustainable Initiative
Who are we?
We are a volunteer group composed of
faculty, staff, and students who have an
interest in participating in PCC's
sustainability mission and vision.
 Our Mission:
We are committed to integrating sustainable
practices into every facet of the college. This
includes facility operations, curriculum,
professional development, and the student
environment
 Our Vision:
Initiate and support resources, programs, and
events that increase awareness and participation in
activities that increase resource efficiency and
environmental responsibility.
What is sustainability?
Global View:
Brundtland Report Paraphrased - 1987: "development that meets the needs of the
present without compromising the ability
of future generations to meet their own
needs.”
To my grandparents it was simply a
common sense lifestyle…….
Pitt Community College is committed to the thoughtful and
conservative use of resources, balancing today’s needs with
those of future generations.
 The PCC Sustainability Committee encourages
our campus and the community to:
–
–
–
–
–
· Take Responsibility
· Waste Less
· Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
· Support Local Businesses
· Think Long Term
