Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and
stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more
and more successful.”

from Full Bloom on
“Kate Smith”
She started off her career as the butt of
“fat girl” jokes from the likes of Bert Lahr,
but went on to become one of the most popular radio and recording
personalities of her day. Known for her outgoing personality and infectious
laughter, she introduced songs that would become famous to her listeners.
These included her theme song, “When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain,”
as well as the song she is identified with, “God Bless America.” She was the
very embodiment of the American spirit and an inspiration to millions

king and queen of England by saying, "This is Kate Smith - this is America."

Resident’s Corner
Cat Story
By Delores S.
My daughter Barb, who lives in Missouri, has barn cats – Tony “the Tiger”,
Tina and Lena.
Barb and her husband Phill had a plumber working at their house and after
he left for Springfield they missed Tony their cat. They called the plumber
who said he was allergic to cats and the cat wasn’t with him. After Tony had
been gone for 4 weeks, he came home very skinny. They think he had been
in the plumber’s truck and after a while when the plumber stopped along
the way, Tony jumped out and somehow made his way home! A happy
ending, indeed. Tony has used 1 of his 9 lives!

According to Dr. Cynthia Green, “Here’s a
visual workout you can do anytime,
anywhere (well, almost anywhere!). Take
up the fine art of the doodle. Some studies
have even suggested that doodling can
boost concentration, making it certainly
worth the fun!” Get used to doing some
doodling and bring that talent to our
afternoon with the art students from
Minnetonka High School on the 6th! Who
knows, your doodle may very well turn into
a masterpiece!
