6th, 7th, and 8th grade Humanities Reading List
Each summer your student will be expected to read five of the following books. By the end of their
three years at Morehead, they will have read fifteen different books over the course of their summers.
The choice of book is up to them. However, some of the books contain language or situations that may
require adult supervision. On the back of the page is a form the students need to turn in at the
beginning of the year. It does require a two sentence summary and the parent’s signature. Of course,
students can read more than the five required books each summer. Most of the books on this list are a
classic and available at public libraries or Google Books.
