Course Description
6th
Welcome to
grade science! We have a very exciting year in store
for us! Our classes will examine and investigate scientific reasoning
and logic; as well as explore atomic theory, elements and
compounds during the first nine weeks. During the second nine
weeks, we will investigate energy, the unique properties of water,
and the dynamics of the Earth’s atmosphere. During the third nine
weeks, we’ll explore our solar system and the wonders of our
planet. Towards the end of the year, we’ll study the workings of
watersheds, as well as the importance of natural resource
conservation. This will be a very engaging year filled with hands-on
activities and lots of fun learning for everyone!
Grading
Make-Up Work
Homework will be assigned each class
period. Students are expected to complete
their assignments on the day they are
assigned so that extra help or clarification
can be given between class sessions.
Homework descriptions will be available
online each day. UNEXCUSED LATE
HOMEWORK SUBMISSIONS WILL RESULT
IN GRADING PENALTIES, but alternative
measures can be considered on an ongoing,
as-needed basis. There will be NO
TOLERANCE for cheating or plagairism—
an automatic (63/F) failing grade will be
entered for assignments determined to have
been cheated on.
ALL tests, quizzes, class work assignments, journal
activities, homework and projects MUST be made up
within three days following return to school.
THIS IS A STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY!
Upon your return to school, please pick up any work
to be made up IMMEDIATELY. It will be in bin labeled
“extras” where work is turned in.
Extra Help
Is available upon request most days before school.
The transportation arrangements for students
