Course Objective:
This module discusses basic theories, concepts, practices, and current issues in the
management of human capital in organisations. We will examine ways in which to attract,
retain, motivate, and rewarding human capital. The subject also reviews the impact of
globalisation of human capital, global flow and cross-cultural management of human capital.
The course will consider optimum patterns of interaction within and between teams to best
achieve high level organisation performance. Both Asian and global perspective are
considered to provide the student with the necessary understanding of contextual factors. A
range of teaching methodologies will be used in particular case studies and guest speakers
will be used to bring relevant and contemporary management issues to the learning
environment. Students will make 2 presentations and interview a manager they have selected
for the individual assignment.

we overcome resistance to change?
11. Globalisation. How does a manager need to operate for most effectiveness in
different culture settings and with a diverse workforce
12. Strategically managing human resources.
Teaching Methodology:
Mini-lectures, case studies, management exercises, field project and presentation, group
discussion, video.
