activities including being the grant recipient body for the delivery of the Communities First programme
that identifies the needs of the Sandfields and Aberavon community. The main activity is the
implementation and delivery of the NSA Afan Business Plan 2014 - 2020 which has identified the
needs of the community and which is the focus of delivery for the organisation.

Permanent contract subject to a successful 6 month probationary
interview and continuation of funding for the post
Role Specific Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To plan, direct and co-ordinate the Finance activities of the Organisation to maximise the
strategic use of financial resources and to manage this internal operation effectively;
2. To achieve the highest standards of financial management and develop effective financial
control;
3. To be responsible for the continued development and maintenance of a range of financial
arrangements including
- Financial management of the Organisation’s projects and activities;
- Developing, implementing and maintaining financial systems and procedures which provide
clear accountability in the day to day management of finances;
- Maintaining and developing proper accounting and financial records covering all aspects of
financial activities having regard to the requirements of regulators and funders;
- ensuring proper arrangements for the disbursement of all payments and the collection of all
income and receipts;
- to co-ordinate and monitor financial planning and budgets;
- managing the organisation’s bank accounts and cashflow requirements;
4. To provide direct line management and leadership to other finance staff to ensure the provision
of efficient, effective and economical services that are responsive to the needs of the
organisation;
5. To provide appropriate management information in a timely manner to drive business
efficiencies.
6. To prepare and present a wide range of financial reports including management accounts,
statutory accounts and project reports as required;
7. To advise the senior management team and Board on the organisation’s financial position and
to contribute to the strategic development of new activities and projects and
8. Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level of the post that may reasonably be
required from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience
CCAB qualified
Excellent technical accounting skills and ability to develop
effective financial accounting systems
Broad based experience in leading and managing the
financial management functions of an organisation
Proven experience of managing the finances of grant funded
projects funded
Proven experience of developing, costing and submitting
bids in response to commercial tenders
Experience of using and developing computer based
financial accounting systems
Sound management experience with the proven ability to
manage and lead a finance team and to motivate and
develop staff
Direct experience of delivering continuous improvement and
change management
Core Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to
communicate strategic and operational direction to staff at
all levels
Good report writing skills including the ability to assemble
data from various sources and compile reports for
presentation purposes
Ability to liaise at all levels of the business and build
constructive relationships
Ability to solve management problems and actively deliver
change
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver
against targets and objectives
Strong leadership and analytical skills
Knowledge of the third sector and experience of working
with the relevant funders
