Martha Sells – ET8013

The following tasks have been charged to us for week 4 of Multimedia and Video
Technology. Following each task, you will find the progress we have made during the
week. Then we have included email communications that are not visible on our wiki. After
that we have the tables from last week’s assignments that now include adjustments. Lastly
is the Web Conference assignment information needed for this week.
1. Record voice over narration script using Audacity to be edited for the final product.
This is being done by Bob Eikenberry. Stephanie Higgins and Brandi Fasulo are working
together to “splice” footage that includes screen shots, text, graphics and stock footage gained
from the Internet. Once this footage is put together, Bob will add the voice-over.
2. Video appropriate footage.
Martha Sells recruited two of the multimedia specialists at San Jacinto College to film her in the
studio using a green screen. An appropriate image was then added to help set the mood for the
project. She filmed the opening and closing shots for the PSA using this method.
3. Meet online with your team to determine progress in all work. Document your online
meetings and submit documentation to your instructor using a Web 2.0 tool of your choice.
There have been 2 SKYPE meetings by the team. At each meeting 3 members of the 4-member
team were present, and the one who was unable to attend was informed of the discussion via
email or the team wiki. Most communication by the team has been conducted through this wiki,
which can be accessed at http://jazzietechsgroup.wikispaces.com/ We decided it would be easier
to create a communication page here rather than using email, the wiki, phone, etc. Keeping
everything in one place has been very helpful.
4. Determine and evaluate appropriate lighting, camera shots, and audio.
These have been decided as the project has progressed.
5. Participate in Week, 4 Web Conferences on Friday, September 17 and 19, 2010, at 5 p.m.
6. Submit a copy of your Pre-Production to the Production document while keeping a copy
as you will need to update the document to reflect changes you make in the original. Keep a
copy in your eportfolio as you will need to update the document again in Week 5 to reflect
changes you make in the original.

All team members are contributing to the documents that will be submitted weekly.
7. Please check all links before you send to your Instructional Associate/Coach as all of us
should be able to open your wikis, blogs, and other files. You receive a grade you do not
want if we cannot open your links.
This will be done by each team member to assure nothing has been missed by one or more team
members.
The following is verbiage from email communications that cannot be viewed on the wiki.
Hey Stephanie,
I will be doing the voice over for most of the slides. I believe Martha will
do the voice over for the beginning slide. Martha- correct me if I'm wrong.

I would put "studio" for the green screen shots and "stock" or "canned" for
the others. Remember we can make changes next week if we need to...this is
just a draft.
Thanks Stephanie!

Hey all,
Quick question....on our shots that are going to be screen shots or videos of
email, blackboard, etc...what should be the location? If we are not to have
the actual pictures and videos until next week, I am confused on what the
location should be. Should I put n/a?
Also, Bob are you doing the voiceovers for these shots? I wanted to make
sure that I put the right talent....until I hear otherwise, I will go ahead
and put you and Martha.

Subject: File is Uploaded
Hi everyone! I have filled in the project plan, outline and script draft,
and uploaded the file to the wiki. All we need now is the shot list, and we
are good to go. Once that is done, and it is uploaded with the changes, we
can all place our own names at the top, and submit this week’s assignment.
WOOHOO!
To get to the file click on Manage Wiki, then files.
Stephanie, are you able to get into the wiki? If not, I have attached. I
will continue to do it this way until we hear from Brandi, and she gets you
access.
Thanks everyone!

Hey when you get a chance, can you send me a screen shot of San Jac's email login screen and their
Blackboard login screen? This way it is more personalized toward the college.
I haven't heard from Brandi yet, but I am hoping to finish the screen shot by tomorrow morning at the

How will you know if and when the college will close in the event of a hurricane or other
emergency situation?
Revision: Hello from San Jacinto College!
Living in the Houston area, we never know when a hurricane may threaten our semester. How will you know if
and when the college will close in the event of a hurricane or other emergency situation?
In the event of an imminent storm or other emergency, San Jacinto College will do
everything possible to communicate closings and status updates to its students, faculty,
staff and administrators.

possible to communicate closings and status updates to its students, faculty, staff and administrators both before
and after the event..
The main venue of communication will be via the Blackboard Learning Management
System. There students can find course information with which to continue their studies
if a lengthy closing is required.

closing is required. And students and employees alike will find announcements and organizational sites which will
communicate closure updates to them as well.
In addition, all users who have signed up with the Early Alert system will receive voice
and text messages to keep them apprised of the events.
Facebook and Twitter are also available to all users to conduct two-way communication
with the college. And of course, the old reliable – email will be used as well.
If none of these technologies appeal to you, be sure to view or listen in to the television
and radio stations shown on your screen. They too will provide vital information for our
college community.
So there is no need to feel separated, or be worried about your classes. We will be sure
to take care of you, and to let you know what is happening. Stay safe, and be prepared!

Week 4 Assignment: Web Conference
Web Conference Learner Outcomes:
Learning to operate the software and hardware for an interactive web conference.
More interaction between students and faculty for academic and intellectual content
knowledge.
Clarification of assignments.
Sharing your local experiences with one another.
Information regarding the components of the Internship and Field-based Experiences and
Activities.
During this class, you have the opportunity to participate in an activity: a synchronous Web

the program, and share their professional goals. You are required to attend at least one
conference during this five-week session.
You may attend any of the conferences; the content will be for your information, questions, and
concerns. Space is limited to 30 participants each and is first come, first served. The meeting
room opens 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the conference.
You do not need to download or purchase additional software to participate in the conference.
However, a headset with microphone and Web camera are preferred equipment.
To reach the meeting room, go to http://lamar.na4.acrobat.com/r80194280/
After you gain access, go to the left menu item “Manage my settings,” and set up your
audio and your camera. Check that your audio is not muted before the session begins.
Please reflect on the value of the experience in your course blog by the end of Week 3. For this
and other blog posts required in this course, you may use the blog you created in EDLD 5306.
After making your blog post, copy and paste a copy of the text into the table below. Be sure you
