patterns, and numeracy. We will also discuss
other topics like the weather and our
upcoming day.
Our math program is GoMath which focuses
heavily on number sense in Kindergarten.
We will also learn about geometry, graphing,

ThinkCentral is an EXCELLENT online resource, part of our
StoryTown reading series, Go Math! Series, and Science Fusion
program.
To access everything on ThinkCentral go to:
◦ www-k6.thinkcentral.com
Click on Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, or Science
Fusion. Then choose our state (PA), school district (Greater
Latrobe), and school name (Mt. View Elementary).
Your child's username is: The LAST two numbers of their
gradation year then the FIRST four letters of his/her last name
and the FIRST four letters of his/her first name.
◦ For example, if your child's name is Michael Smith, his
username would be: 27smitmich
The password is the lowercase letter g then an uppercase letter
L followed by your child's six-digit lunch number, also known
as his or her six-digit ID number. For example: gL123456
Then, click on Log In, and enjoy this fabulous resource!

We use an approach called KidWriting that
focuses on invented or phonetic spelling.
◦ This lets the students be successful in writing without
constantly worrying about how to spell a word. It also
reinforces the alphabetic principle and lets students
work at their level.


During this time we use shared writing to model
the process of writing both stories and
informational pieces.
*If you brought your child’s writing binder with you please leave it on
your child’s seat when you leave. Thanks!
