Why partnerships are important
• Support our Children – To achieve their best
• Support our Children’s Teachers
• Support our Children’s School
• Support one another
Yew Tee Primary School
Reflective Learners, Gracious Citizens
Why are partnerships important?
• The more families support their children’s learning and
educational progress, the more their children tend to do
well in school and continue their education.
• Programmes and interventions that engage families in
supporting their children’s learning at home are linked to
higher student achievement. (Parents’ level of
engagement affects the degree of influence).
• Teacher outreach to parents is positively related to
parent involvement and student achievement.
(Henderson & Mapp, 2002)
Yew Tee Primary School
Reflective Learners, Gracious Citizens
Why are partnerships important?
• Fathers had a buffering effect in protecting boys from
extreme victimisation and daughters have less
psychological distress at age 33 (Flouri, 2005, UK
research)
• Fathers’ involvement at age 7 was found to be
significantly associated with educational attainment at
age 20 (Flouri, 2005)
• Good fathering was associated with adolescents’
positive school engagement and higher academic
achievement (Dr Ong Ai Choo, 2000, Singapore)
Yew Tee Primary School
Reflective Learners, Gracious Citizens
Network of Support
• The PSG creates a network of links for the school,
its families and the community.
• The end result is not only a rich diversity of
talents, but also an extended networking system
for the benefit of the pupils and the school.
• Parents are valued as partners in their children's
education
• Enrich and support school personnel, pupils and
their families

Pupils are generally weak in division of whole
numbers and fractions
• Help your child to master the multiplication table
• Reinforce the concept of Fractions as division of a
whole into equal parts by using real life examples
such as cutting of fruits, cakes, pizzas into equal
pieces
• Provide regular practice at home to help your child
achieve mastery of the mathematical concepts
taught.

A water tank used for flushing a toilet bowl is shown below. The
flushing and re-filling system is not shown in the diagram.
After flushing, water enters and re-fills the tank. The tank will stop
filling when the water reaches level L.
James wanted to use less water to flush the toilet bowl. Michelle
suggested putting a plastic bottle filled with stones into the water tank.
Explain how Michelle’s suggestion would help reduce the amount of
water used to flush the toilet bowl.

A comparison of lesson approach
Before 2016
• ICT lessons conducted
during curriculum time
• Anchored by an
academic subject
• Periods of anchored
subjects assigned for
ICT lessons
From 2016
• Disassociated with
academic subject
• ICT lessons to be
conducted after

• Each class to undergo
6 hours of ICT lessons
scheduled in term 1
Yew Tee Primary School

Rationale for review outcome
• Better utilisation of curriculum time
• Focus on pupils’ acquisition of ICT skills
• More time allowed for pupils to practise what
they have learnt

Cuti sekolah bulan Jun itu masih ada baki 3 minggu lagi. Adam merenung
ke luar tingkap. Setelah seminggu duduk di rumah, dia mula berasa bosan.
“Adam, Ibu lihat Adam nampak seperti bosan sahaja. Bacalah buku atau
surat khabar itu,” kata ibunya.
Adam mencapai surat khabar di atas meja. Dia terbaca laporan mengenai
satu kegiatan belia yang dijalankan di sebuah masjid berdekatan dengan rumahnya.
Ramai anak-anak muda yang membuat kerja-kerja sukarelawan di situ.
