NSF Scholarship for African-American Women in Computer Science
Florida A & M University is providing an outstanding opportunity for Black women entering college. It is
designed to address their absence in the field of computer technology. Dr. Jason Black is the Principal
Investigator of a recently awarded $552,000 NSF Grant entitled African-American Women in Computer
Science. The grant provides scholarships from $4000 to $10,000 per year for female African American
students. We need your help to get the word out about this great opportunity to build back up the
enrollment of women in the CIS Department. Pass this information along to high school or community
college students, their parents, and to guidance counselors you may know.

The NSF S-STEM program, E ngineering and Computer Science S cholars T argeted for A cademic S
uccess (E-STARS) , is designed to provide enhanced academic support services to students pursuing
engineering and computer science degrees at USF. Depending upon their eligibility for federal financial
aid, limited financial support is available for advanced undergraduates and graduate students.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1)
Be US citizens or permanent residents;
2)
Eligible for federal financial aid ( including loans);
3)
Enrolled in an engineering or computer science program at the USF College of
Engineering;
4)
Have at least a 2.7 grade point average for undergraduates or above; 3.0 grade point
average or above for graduate students;
5)
6)
Undergraduates – must have completed at least 60 hours of coursework
Graduate students - must hold concurrent TA or RA appointments or the equivalent
with prior TA experience
For undergraduates, support up to $4,000 per student may be available and for graduate students up to
$10,000 per student. Prior to making any award, each applicant ’s overall financial aid package will be
reviewed. As a precondition of any award, students CANNOT hold off-campus employment, including
weekends, during any award period (Fall to Spring).

2010 USDA National Scholars Program
The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program will provide full tuition, employment, employee benefits,
fees, books, use of a laptop, printer, and software while on scholarship and room and board each year
for 4 years to students pursuing a bachelor's degree at the following universities:

Coca-Cola Two Year College Scholarship Award
For students attending a 2-year college. Scholarships awarded based on character, personal merit and
commitment.
Merit is demonstrated through leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, academic
achievement, and motivation to serve and succeed.
In order to receive access to this scholarship application, you must be nominated by the accredited twoyear degree granting institution where you are enrolled.
Enhances educational opportunities in the United States through scholarship awards and enrichment
programs for young people who demonstrate, through academic excellence and leadership in their
communities, their capacity for and commitment to making a difference in the world.
