Position Statement
Nurse anesthesia students arise each day before sunrise to perseveringly pursue the dream
of joining this time honored profession. In reaffirming the greatness of this profession, we
understand that greatness is never given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of
short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted – for those who prefer
leisure over work or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risktakers, the doers, the makers of things.
With each new challenge met, each of us are reminded of the invaluable resources around
us such as dedicated faculty and supportive programs. The AANA Education Committee is one
of these devoted programs that cultivates and helps to highlight educational opportunities, provide
direction for educational programs, review and recommend changes to standards and guidelines
for educational programs, and to maintain lines of communication with all aspects of nurse
anesthesia. The Education Committee works diligently to provide insight and optimize resources
to allow you success in your journey toward becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
Each and every time, a new generation has risen up and done what has needed to be done.
Today we are called once more – and it is time for our generation to answer that call. That's why
I'm in this race; not just to hold an office, but to gather with you to transform this profession.
For that is our unyielding faith – that in the face of impossible odds, people who love this
profession can change it. It is now that I, Stewart Parnacott, humbly request your vote for AANA
Education Committee. Remember: Vote for Stew; He's the AANA representative for you!
I look forward to serving you as student representative for the AANA Education
Committee.
Sincerely,
Stewart Parnacott
