St. Matthias Parish Council Meeting

Opening Prayer
A. Review of previous minutes. Motion to approve: Nancy Zoeller. Second: Judie Mohr.
B. Pastor’s Comments: Fr. Chris was away.
C. Update on One Faith, One Hope, One Love:
 St. Matthias is at 150.00% of goal!
D. Report on the St. Matthias Bible Study Group: Dick Neyer
 Bible study takes place every Thursday at 1:00p.m. 6-10 people are attending. Several
people attending are from the other parishes.
 The plan is to have another Bible study in February.
E. Parochial Vicar’s Comments: Fr. Lambert was at his Bible Study
F. Report on Finance Committee Meeting: Dick Neyer
 The subject came up about looking into the possibility of renting out the back property.
 The Shelter needs 2 gable lines replaced or repaired. Due to cost these will most likely be
repaired.
 Some of the budgets turned in may have been incorrect or had some mistakes.
 The flower budget was cut back. Nancy Zoeller met with Clare Towle to discuss the flower
budget. They also discussed Nancy being in charge of the St. Matthias volunteer collection
counters. Nancy will continue to be in charge of the counters.
 St. Matthias will continue to run things as we have been.
 A new budget starts on July 1 and we are not losing ground.
G. Official Octoberfest Results: Dick Neyer
 Same as previously reported.
 Discussed Fr. Chris’ idea about a possible lunch fish fry. Dick Neyer is talking to workers
more about this subject as getting workers would be the biggest hurdle even with an
abbreviated menu.
H. CMA Results: Kathleen Holt
 2015 Goal: $8,492, Amount pledged: $16,635, Amount paid to date: $15,310, Last year’s
pledge: $13,946. THAT IS 195.89% of GOAL!!
 20% goes to St. Vincent de Paul after meeting goal.
I. Report on Regional Hall Rental Proposed Changes: Doug Keil
 Clare and Kathleen are working on a regional form.
 Doug is working on rules and regulations. One for parishes and one for the region. He hopes
to have something by next month.
J. Selling Rear 3.1 Acres: Dick Neyer
 The AOC needs to have 2 different appraisals before the property can be listed. Dick Neyer
was given two names by Fr. Chris and at this time is not having much luck.
 The cost of 2 appraisals could be as much as $4000.00.
 Discussion continued on whether now is the time to be doing this? It was decided to table
the discussion until Fr. Chris is back.
K. New Business: Giving Tree
St. Matthias Parish Council Meeting
Nov. 10, 2015

Doug Keil and the Men’s group will put the trees up on Saturday November 21. Doug and
Judie will make the gift tags. Kathleen will talk with St. Vincent de Paul about their gift tags.
Social Action Committee Report
 The Social Action Committee met and set the date of the Children’s Christmas party for
December 20 at 1:00p.m.to be held at the Glenmary Council Knights of Columbus.
 Money for the Christmas party is short so it was discussed about a possible bulletin
announcement for donations.
 The St. Matthias Parish Picnic date was changed from the first weekend in August to
Saturday, July 23, 2016.
