SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
OBJECTIVE SELECTION CRITERIA FOR SUPPLIERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS
At Lion of Africa Insurance Company the minimum entry level criteria for suppliers and service providers is
consistently applied in order to ensure that our clients receive the best possible value at a fair industry related
cost. The Objective Selection Criteria (OSC) is designed to be fair and transparent and is based on reasonable
requirements.
In order to optimise the value chain for both the Service provider and the Company, factors such as total
available spend within a specific commodity category directs the number of service providers which can be
accommodated at any given time.
In order to get the process going the Company have MINIMUM ENTRY LEVEL CRITERIA:
1. You have to be a registered business entity and in good standing with SARS.
2. Be a member of any trade regulatory body as may be required i.t.o. legislation.
3. Have compliant BBBEE documentation as first preference will be given to Level 4 BEE recognition upwards
and in particular Black Female Owned enterprises.
4. Negotiable, competitive and fair industry related rates and prices.
5. Lion of Africa requires service providers to have the necessary regulatory and conditional insurances in
place in order to cover Lion of Africa against liability claims that may arise during the course of the suppliers
providing goods or professional services to Lion of Africa or their policyholders. (E.g. Public liability,
Professional indemnity, Product and Motor trader Insurance whichever may be applicable to your line of
business.)
6. Have at least 3 industry related trade references.
7. Allow Lion of Africa Insurance Company to conduct credit and reference verification.
8. Be willing to accept the Company’s terms and conditions and conclude a formal agreement for a minimum
period of 1 year.
Once you have satisfied yourself that you meet the minimum criteria you may apply to become a preferred
service provider to Lion of Africa Insurance by visiting our Supply Chain Management portal on the internet at
www.lionsure.biz , complete the application form, attach all the required documentation as mentioned above
in points 1 to 8 pertaining to your business and then submit the application for consideration.
Please take note that submitting an application do not automatically make you an approved service provider.
You only become a preferred service provider upon conclusion of a signed written agreement.
After your electronic submission has been received the Procurement department will prioritise your
application depending upon the complexity of the commodity and the Company’s immediate needs and then
embark on a verification process, submit the application to the Supplier Management Committee for approval
thereafter you will be contacted with an outcome. This process may take a couple of days up to a couple of
weeks depending on the priority status of the application.
All appointments to Lion of Africa’s preferred panel of service providers are decided upon and ratified by a
committee of staff members.
