Pixar was created from John Lesseter and
Lucasfilms
The name Pixar was created by Steve
Jobs in 1986, which is after the Pixar
Image Computer
Computer Animated Production System
helped Pixar and Disney with their
commercials and films
1984-1989
In 1984, John Lasseter
leaves Disney and joins
George Lucas and his
animation team
The computer graphics
division was sold to Steve
Jobs for $10 million in
1986
A short film called Red’s
Dream has its premiere in
1987
Red’s Dream receives the
Golden Gate award
In 1988 another short film
is premiered and is called
Tin Toy
Pixar makes their first
commercial for Tropicana,
“Wake Up”, in 1989
Tin Toys wins an
Academy Award for Best
Animated Short Film

Pixar creates five new
commercials in 1990
Walt Disney Pictures
and Pixar team up to
create three feature
length animated films

Toy Story hits theaters in 1995
and becomes the first fully

Buzz and Woody from Toy Story

A Bug’s Life is released and

In 1999, Toy Story 2 is released
