 Unit 8 Quiz (20 points)

introduced in this unit.
 Final Project (15 points)
This week you will continue working on ONE section of the Final Project every
week. By the end of Week 9, you will have compiled a portfolio on ONE
individual including their health status and risk of chronic disease.
Unit 8 portion of the NS210 Final
Project
Discuss your clients risk of Coronary
Heart Disease (complete in unit 8)
Compare your clients current diet to
the Nutrient Composition of the
Therapeutic Lifestyle Change diet
Use the MEDFICTS dietary
assessment questionnaire (appendix
E)
Unit 8 – Case Study Help Guide
 Here are my recommendations for completing this
LAST part of the case study.
 Design a chart with your patient’s dietary intake
versus the Therapeutic Lifestyle Change diet
recommendations. You can use the overview data
from the calorie analysis you completed a few
weeks ago on your patient.

Recommendations (pg 265)
Unit 8 Case Study – Help Guide (cont).
 Summarize your patient’s results from the MEDFICTS
questionnaire in Appendix E of our text (pg 391). You may provide
your patients score and what it means….needs improvement etc.
There is a guideline key at the end of the questionnaire.
 Then include a short essay (around 200-250 words equates to
almost 1 pg) that discusses your patient’s overall risk of heart
disease. I would focus on specific dietary influences as well as any
lab values and wt status indicators that indicate heart disease
risk. Please support your statements with references from the
book and /or other reputable websites (American Heart Association
website etc). Focuses should be on these areas, but please write
this in complete sentences and create your own topic sentences
etc…

Dietary influences (reference your diet comparison chart)
Lifestyle influences: smoking, drinking, exercise
Body composition influences (BMI, wt status: you can use last week’s info here)
Lab values, BP measurements (cholesterol, blood pressure)
Please do NOT diagnose. Just discuss if your patient is at risk for heart disease and what the
recommendations are for someone in their situation.
Final Project Information
 The final project is worth 35 points and due by the end of Unit 9, EOD Tuesday
10/04/2011. Please make all corrections and revisions that I have suggested over the
past weeks. You should include all of the case study answers (1-7) into ONE single
document with consistent font/size/spacing. Basically, revise your case study
answers so that they all appear “clean.” Be sure to include your references at the end
of the case study/portfolio. However, it is mandatory that you provide direct citations
where you used a reference. For example for the question where you used the
mypyramid.gov website to analyze the patient’s 24 hr recall, you will want to
reference the website like (website, year or author, year) in parentheses. In order to
gain all of the points for the final project you will need to make the corrections I
suggested, have a professional appearance (consistent font/size/spacing), include
references in formal APA format, and turn it in on time.
 The NS210 Final Project is due by the end of Unit 9, EOD Tuesday 10/04/2011. No
late projects will be accepted, per Kaplan University’s School of Health
Sciences Late policy. Thank you for your attention to these matters. I have enjoyed
being your professor this term.
