PENTECOST SUNDAY

MAY 24, 2015

The Gospel of John contains no record of

Jesus teaching the Lord’s Prayer. But if we read closely chapter 17 of John, several elements of the Our Father appear. The unity integral to that prayer compels Peter today to seek out someone to “become with us a witness to his resurrection.” The night before he dies, Jesus begs his Father, “Keep them in your name.” And the Psalmist proclaims,

“All my being, bless his holy name.” We can do the same thanks to our belonging to the company Christ has given us in his one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

THE WEEKLY CALENDAR

: O Lord, hear my voice, for I have called to you; of you my heart has spoken: Seek his face; hide not your face from me, alleluia. (Cf. Ps 27 (26):7-9)

SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER, MAY 17 – SACRAMENT OF

RECONCILIATION: 8:00 AM and 10:15 AM.

THE FAMILY PRAYER CHALICE FOR VOCATIONS (FPC):

Jesus told us to ask the Harvest Master to send laborers into his harvest. May the prayers of our participating families bear fruit. Thanks to THE KELLY FAMILY for hosting the FPC for

Vocations this week. Sign up in Church vestibule.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVE: Jesus was worried about his disciples and he turned to prayer. No matter how much time we spent trying to “guard and protect” our children, each day they become less dependent on us and we must let go and let God. Prayer and parenting go together.

PRO-LIFE REFLECTION: Abortion should be listed as a weapon of mass destruction against the voiceless. The TRUE Pro-life citizen does not just wish or hope for an end to abortion, they pray and work for it!

STEWARDSHIP: “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” – 1 John

4:15. How strong is your faith? When you have an opportunity to defend your faith or clarify a question about your faith, do you do it?

Or, do you remain silent so that others don’t think you are weird? Pray for the courage to be strong in your faith and share your witness with others. LAST WEEK YOU CONTRIBUTED: Sunday: $3,059; Insurance:

$409; Holy Day: $553; Expenses: $8,829.31 (ordinary); $5,194.50 (school subsidy). Thanks for your generosity!
