SYLLABUS 2013-2014
Class Rules
1. Treat others as you want to be treated a/k/a
R-E-S-P-E-C-T;
2. If you do not have something nice to say,
then keep it to yourself (or else talk to me
about it in private outside of class);
3. Be prepared with paper, pencil, and
flashcards.
Tardiness
• Both feet need to be completely touching the
carpet before the last ding.
• DO NOT RUN IN THE HALLWAY OR CLASSROOM
because safety is first!
• Log your name and time in the tardy log in the
event you arrive tardy (even if you have an excuse
note); Put your excuse in the tardy log pocket.
• Consequences for tardiness were review on the
first day of school and are in your student
handbook for review.
Class Procedures
• Have flashcards ready everyday to study during
TIMER TIME (the first ten minutes of class) unless
an alternate activity has been given to you by
Señor Gaddis.
• TIMER TIME happens during the first ten minutes
of class after teacher has introduced your
learning goals for the day.
• During TIMER TIME: NO TALKING, NO WALKING!
Unless teacher calls you for something.
Class Procedures II
• You will get four restroom/water/stretch
breaks per nine weeks, so it is important that
you guard your punch card with your life.
• Lost punch cards can be earned through
voluntary detention with your teacher.
• Use your planner every day to copy down “I
Will” statements for your class. These
statements will be on small white board daily.
Online Assignments (homework)
• You have 7 calendar days to complete online
assignments. Student who complete them by
the next class day will earn extra respect.
• The computer lab is open every morning in
case you have computer problems at home.
• Online assignments will be based on notes
you take in class: Notes = Online Assignments.
• Online assignments factor in the 40% portion
of your overall grade.
Test and Quizzes
• Tests and quizzes will make up 60% of your
final average. They will usually take place on
Fridays.
• If you miss a test or quiz due to absence, you
may make it up preferably after school to give
you ample time.
• If you make below a 70 on any test or quiz,
you may also retake it after school.
How NOT to earn a DETENTION
• DO NOT WALK OR TALK DURING TIMER TIME
(while timer is ticking);
• DO NOT ARGUE OR BE DISRESPECTFUL TO
PEOPLE including the teacher;
• HAVE YOUR FLASHCARD OR NOTES TO STUDY
DURING TIMER TIME;
• DO NOT CAUSE PROBLEMS THAT AFFECT
OTHER PEOPLE’S LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.
