Short Story and Visuals Alternate Assignment
If you did not complete the assignment to write your own short story with visuals, please complete the
following assignment:
Part 1 - Choose your favourite short story (one we have not done in class) and write a detailed 5paragraph essay in which you analyze AT LEAST THREE of the five elements of short stories (Setting,
Character, Plot, Conflict, and Theme). Be sure to analyze how the author develops these elements, do
not simply retell the story. Include support and examples from the text. This is a formal essay and should
be written as such. This must be your own analysis, not what you find online.
If you do not have a favourite short story you can find one online at a website such as:

Part 2 - In addition, you must attach a visual that you feel represents the story, and include a
paragraph-long explanation for why you think it is fitting. You may draw this yourself or find a visual
online, so long as you credit the source.
