Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversees the planning, design, development, and implementation of the companywide
compensation and benefit programs, including home office, distribution center and field.
Responsible for ensuring these programs meet employee needs, are competitive and current
with trends, are in compliance with legal requirements and are cost effective. Lead in the
the creation of policies, procedures and reporting. Additionally, oversees recruitment and
staffing of the home office and distribution center. Supervises a team of professionals
including a Corporate Recruiter, Compensation & Benefits Analyst, HR Coordinator, and an
Office/Mailroom Clerk.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compensation:
 Manages employee compensation, benefits and reward programs; including
salary/wage administration, as well as variable and incentive pay program
development and administration.
 Compensation – leads the development of salary structure and administrative
guidelines in accordance with compensation policy. Uses wage and salary surveys,
job matching.
 Oversees the job analysis process to determine appropriate pay structures and
grading according to compensation guidelines and market analysis.
 Recommends alternative compensation and benefit programs by studying employer
and employee requirements/trends and developments offered within
industry/geographic area.
 Oversees and partners with the Finance Department to manage the Department
budget.
Benefits:
 Benefits – manages the Company’s overall employee benefit program and records
administration. Ensures the reconciliation and tracking of health and welfare benefit
payments and audit documentation is established.
 Ensures compliance with company policy, plan documents, rules and regulations,
provider/broker agreements, and summary plan documents and certificates.
 Oversees, liaises and negotiates cost effective employee benefit plans with Health &
Welfare and 401(k) brokers.
 Develops programs to monitor and reduce costs and improve delivery of benefit
programs.
 Oversees the safety program, including all work related injuries and illnesses;
manages the cost implications and filing of W/C claims and collaborates with
management to ensure timely completion of accident investigation reports and status
updates.
 Oversees and guides the initiatives of the Safety Committee.

Prepares and presents statistical reports on requested subjects to senior
management and OSHA, as necessary.
Directs and develops implementation of plans, policies, and programs affecting
company relations with the organization’s employees and their representatives.
HRIS:
 HRIS – partners with Payroll to ensure data integrity and efficient analytical reporting
capabilities.
 Oversees the implementation/data conversion of a HRIS system to ensure all
components of the HR and Benefits system are strategically and flawlessly migrated
into all new HR systems.
Staffing:
 Oversees the employment function of applicant recruitment, advertising, interviewing
and selection, employment offers, ensuring recruiting requirements are following
including background checks and references.
 Grows the college recruitment and internship program to staff for future needs.
JOB SKILLS REQUIRED:
 Skilled at tracking & analyzing information needed to accomplish financial objectives
and recommending appropriate solutions.
 Initiates resolution of complex benefits and compensation issues.
 Proficiency with issues of compliance for state and federal regulations.
 Highly analytical and able to demonstrate composure and flexibility to adapt and
respond to priority changes.
 Ability to manage and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
 Ability to influence and develop relationships with senior management and 3 rd
parties.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
 Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources management or related business
field.
 7 years of progressive Compensation, Benefits, HRIS analytics, and Staffing
experience in a fast paced corporate environment with at least 3 years of
management experience in these areas.
 Ability to influence and develop relationships at all levels within the organization and
with outside 3rd parties. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
 Ability to manage and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
 Strong verbal, written and group presentation skills
 In-depth knowledge of federal & state regulations pertaining to administration of
compensation and benefits.
 Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, & Access. Experience with Ultimate Software or comparable HRIS and
report writing applications required.
 Strong verbal, written and group presentation skills
