Chapter 6
• Pip wrestles with his consciousness over his theft of Joe’s file and of the food
• “I ought to tell Joe the whole truth. . . . The fear of losing Joe’s confidence, and of thenceforth sitting
in the chimney-corner at night staring drearily at my for ever lost companion and friend, tied my
tongue” (771).

•at Satis House we meet Estella, Miss Havisham, and her eccentricities!
•Estella plays cards with Pip
–She rebukes him for calling knaves “jacks,” for having coarse hands, and for having thick boots
•Pip begins his awareness of his social station in comparison to that of Estella
