Classroom Procedures
Starting Class
1. Enter the room quietly take your seat and get started on the posted activity.
2. Bring all necessary material with you to class. You are required to bring your textbook, paper,
writing utensils, red pen, binder/folder, homework, free reading book and planner to class each
day.
Classroom Behavior
1. Be courteous; raise your hand and wait to be called on.
2. Please keep your hands to yourself.
3. Please remain seated during instruction.
Assignments
1. Make sure your name is on the assignment, upper right hand corner if there is no designated
area for your name.
2. Turn in the assignment into the tray on the table.
3. Late assignments result in a 5% reduction for each assignment for each day it is late.
a. If you do not have your homework completed you will also receive a “D.A.S.H.” Daily
Alternate Study Hall.
b. A student will return to “D.A.S.H.” each day until the missing work is completed.
Attendance
1. You and your materials are to be in your assigned seat when class begins.
2. Class begins at the scheduled time.
3. You will be marked tardy if you are not in your assigned seat at the start of class. After two
tardies to any combination of classes a classroom detention will be issued. Subsequent tardies
will result in additional detentions or other disciplinary actions.
Absences
1. You have two days to turn in homework for each day you were absent.
2. Check the folders in the front of the room for your assignments following an absence and make
sure you get them turned in on time.
Daily Announcements
1. Be respectful and listen.
2. I will attempt to post announcements on the bulletin board; the announcements are also posted
on the Grade School website at www.dwight.k12.il.us.
Using the Hallways as a Class:
1. Single file
2. Be VERY quiet please. There are other classes going on. We will use a “0” voice while in the
hallway.
Emergency Drills
1. Fire - Exit our room and turn left; go out the door and around building to the right; line up in the
parking lot
2. Tornado - Exit our room and turn corner; kneel in front of lockers outside the classroom
avoiding the glass near the classroom door. We will use a “0” voice during emergency/drills.
Hallway Passes
1. Please use the restroom during passing time.
2. Sign out on the clipboard.
3. Sign back in when you return.
