Course Description:
Latin offers the opportunity to study both the language and culture of Ancient Rome, which has
had a profound influence upon Western culture. This course also develops skills in English by
providing for the study of English vocabulary from Latin roots, topics in English grammar, and
writing skills through the editing of translations. Students will also begin to appreciate the impact
of Ancient Greek and Roman literature and mythology on Western literature and art through
discussions and presentations.
