III. General Updates
a. Meeting – change in time
i. CTE Transitions Meetings

b. CTE Transitions Grant
i. There is bus funding for Career Exploration of the CTE programs at Delta College.
ii. The grant has also provided smaller program information flyers.
1. The schools may request copies to distribute in their counseling offices.
c. Delta College has hired a new Marketing Director, Shelly Valenton, to oversee Outreach and
Enrollment
d. Delta College instructors will participate with job shadowing at the high schools and the high
school instructors will job shadow at Delta College.
e. SJDC Community Education has changed the name and direction of what will be offered to the
community. The department will now be known as Workforce Training Institute.
i. New supervisor has been hired. Silvia Calderon can be reached at 954-5045 or
mscalderson@deltacollege.edu
ii. Programs offered to the community such as Phlebotomy Technician and Pharmacy
Technician are State Certified trainings. Curriculum is the same as what is offered in
private institutions at a lower overall cost to the student.
iii. Programs and trainings will support local workforce needs and expand beyond the
conventional idea of community education.
f. Delta College needs adjunct (part time) instructors for CTE disciplines.

ii. Ongoing interviews to fill positions
g. A Manufacturing Forum was held in June to connect with local industry to identify the needs of
the employers.
i. Twenty five local manufacturing companies shared their needs. The companies reviewed
the following:
1. Industrial Technology Certificate
2. Individual course outlines relevant to the certificate
3. Comments collected from each company on Certificate and course relevance to
their occupations
ii. Industry needs
1. Soft skills is the primary focus for all participants

Question whether this can be infused into course curriculum
2. Utilizing existing curriculum to help their employees to advance
3. Multiple, stackable certificate programs to support each occupation skill level
iii. All comments were compiled and an analysis report completed
h. Lorinda Forrest, Deputy Sector Navigator for Small Business and Entrepreneurship is currently
working on a curriculum sharing website where instructors will be able to upload/download
curriculum, critique and give suggestions on best practices for the classroom.
i. Lorinda currently works with 14 colleges in the area and all the high schools
IV. Articulation Update:
a. The updated list of the articulated courses is currently posted online.

b. 2016/2017 academic year articulation agreements will be set for October 2015
i. Only CTE courses will be articulated
ii. The agreements are by District not individual school. All schools within the District must
be aware the curriculum must be the same.
